The History of Berlin Industries
1919
S. Berlin Press is founded by I.S. Berlin in a small loft in downtown Chicago with two small, hand-fed Gordon presses purchased for $200.

1920’s
The company expands and moves to 426 S. Clinton Street in Chicago, growing to contain the largest battery of Miehle Vertical Letterpresses in the country.
1930-1975
Company builds a strong presence by providing high quality print jobs and meeting customer’s deadlines.
1976
The Chicago plant moves to Addison, Illinois. IS Berlin is officially renamed Berlin Industries.
1987
Berlin Industries is purchased by Smith Investment Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and additional capital investments are made to compete in the growing direct mail marketplace.
1991
The company moves to a 270,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in Carol Stream, Illinois. Tremendous preparations were made to make it one of most environmentally friendly printing facilities in the country.
1997
The company purchases Kukla Press Facility in Elk Grove, Illinois, adding to its web presses and direct mail clients.
1998
Berlin Industries breaks ground on a 172,000 square foot addition to the Carol Stream headquarters for warehousing and office expansion.
2003
Berlin Industries enters the digital printing market by acquiring two HP Indigo 3000s, allowing us to deliver high impact one-to-one personalized materials.
2005
As part of its continuing initiative to bring value and flexibility to its customers, Berlin announces the start-up of a new Goss M-2000 6-color web press in May 2005.
The new M-2000 excels in any targeted marketing products and is especially well suited for short lead times and ever changing programs. This new press is another step in a continuing series of improvements designed to make the lives of our customers easier, and in turn promote the ability to increase the value they represent to their customers.
2007
Berlin updates their prepress systems with Kodak's Prinergy Workflow System with the InSite customer interface.
